I prefer email.  Nothing in my life is so urgent that I need to text, and I'd rather break the silence with the quiet click of keys, as I type a carefully chosen phrase. There are two or three people who have my phone number, and on a given day I might enjoy talking with one of them. When I get a chance. And I don't listen to my voicemail.

All those years of being on call soured me on the idea of being constantly reachable. I guard my privacy like a tiger guards her cubs.
